‘Daybreakers’ is the latest thrilling vampire movie from Hollywood written and directed by Peter and Michael Spierig. It was released on January 6 in the United Kingdom and on January 8 in the United States this year.

The definition of vampire films has changed in the recent years. Smart vampire films like Underworld and Blade and the super hit Twilight were made in the past few years. ‘Daybreakers’ is another addition in this genre.

The plot:

The story of Daybreakers begins in 2019 when plague started to transform humans into vampires. So to save their blood supply, the vampires started to save as many people as they can. Meanwhile, a way is discovered to save human race from transferring into vampire. A group of still remaining people, including a hematologist Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke), started to work on saving people. There is another group of extreme vampire in the film called ‘sub-sider’, who lost their normal human characteristics and become creatures like bat. Within many events, the daughter of the vampire leader Charles Bromley (Sam Neill) becomes a sub-sider and dies by the order of Bromley. The group of Bromley discovers a substitute of blood and Bromley loses his interest in using the cure to save human race from becoming vampires. That leads to a war between the vampires and the human race. 

Daybreakers is one of the vampire films portraying war between vampires and human, rather than showing scary storyline like old-time vampire movies. It got mixed response from the viewers and the critics after its release. The IMDB rating of Daybreakers is 7.2 and it has 66% rating in Rotten Tomatoes. After its first week in box office, Daybreakers is in number four position with a total profit of $ 18,361,046.

Conclusion

Daybreakers is something new! Maybe not must see for a classical vampire movie fan, but definitely cool and entertaining movie to watch. Besides sharp teeth and blood you can see some real thrilling action.
